About the artist
Mark Loren Freedman was born, raised, and educated in Toronto, Canada. An Emergency Physician by
day, Mark balances his intense work with a passion for nature and wildlife photography. He has
photographed in dozens of countries on all seven continents including in some of the most remote
regions on Earth. Mark finds inspiration in the raw beauty and innocence of his subjects and the harsh
conditions in which they survive. His photographic style can best be described as environmental
portraiture. He strives to capture rare and spectacular creatures surrounded by stunning and dramatic
landscapes. His provocative images highlight the intimate interplay between creature and habitat, a
relationship so precarious that even subtle disturbances can significantly and irreparably upset the
equilibrium. Ultimately his aim is to promote environmental awareness by sharing scenes we risk losing
forever. In 2008 Mark was named among Photolife Magazines Emerging Photographers and he has been
a two time finalist in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
Prints
Many of the images you see are available for purchase as limited and unlimited edition prints of truly
stunning quality. Prints are created using a Lambda printer coupled with a traditional wet chemical
process. Colour prints are exposed onto extremely vibrant polyester based flex material while black and
white images use richly textured fiber paper. We print with one of the few labs in the world using this
process. These are not inkjet prints! Prints are soft and hard proofed before the final printing stage.
All are made with painstaking attention to detail and involve countless hours of collaboration between
photographer and master print maker. From the most remote regions on Earth to your home or office,
you will love these spectacular prints! Contact us for information on prices and availability.
